Alodokter, a Jakarta-based healthtech startup, announced that it has resolved a dispute with laid-off employees who protested last week over their severance pay, which they claim did not meeting regulatory requirements.
“The former employees involved have accepted all calculations and compensation as determined by Alodokter from the outset,” the company said in a statement to Tech in Asia.
The SoftBank-backed firm stated that the recent layoffs were conducted in compliance with the Indonesia’s labor regulations.
Last week, several retrenched employees and 30 worker solidarity members held a rally outside Alodokter’s Jakarta office, accusing the company of providing severance calculations below the legally mandated amounts.

One affected worker told Tech in Asia that Alodokter terminated 12 staff members, nine of whom decided to challenge the decision and protest the severance calculations.
Alodokter denied the allegations. Suci Arumsari, co-founder and president director at Alodokter, said the job cuts and severance payments adhered to Article 43, Paragraph 1 of Government Regulation No. 35 of 2021 and cited the company’s ongoing financial losses as justification for the decision.
Established in 2014, Alodokter provides information on diseases, medications, and other health-related topics. The company says it has more than 30 million monthly active users and over 80,000 doctors on its platform.
Alodokter’s most recent fundraise was a US$5.2 million series D round in February this year. Its total disclosed funding now stands at US$49.7 million.
