Today in Tokyo Docomo announced the release of two new tablets capable of running its high-speed LTE service. Our readers are likely already familiar with Samsung’s Galaxy Tab 10.1, but the other tablet on display was a head-turner as well.
Quite often at events like this you’ll see models showing off the product and today was no exception. But to my surprise the lady holding the new Fujitsu Arrows Tab was clad in a fluffy white bathrobe. Upon closer inspection, it turns out that this wasn’t a case of undressing – but rather she was highlighting one of the main features of the Fujistu Tablet: it’s waterproof.

The device is powered by Android 3.2 and sports a dual core processor. It weighs in at 597 grams and has a profile of 11.3mm. It also features one-seg mobile TV, as well as hand-gesture control, which uses the camera as a means of letting you interface without actually touching. The company says in its announcement that this will come in handy for checking recipes while cooking when your hands might be dirty.
Built for Speed
Given that these two new tablets will be running atop Docomo’s high speed LTE network, it makes sense that it would roll out some four new broadband applications that can take advantage of that. The two most notable additions were Qik and Hulu. Qik of course, is a popular live-streaming video service. And Hulu, which recently opened an office in Japan, will now be available on both these tablets providing lots of great video entertainment for local users.
