The Tech in Asia crew were invited to TradeGecko‘s office opening party on the 2nd September, 2015. We got on a train from Bugis and headed towards Telok Ayer on the downtown line. Valeri from the TIA BD team took point after we exited the station, armed with Google Maps on her phone, we headed in the direction of 121 Telok Ayer Street, TradeGecko’s new home base. “I think its further down the road”, TIA’s social media ninja Alan remarked, fiddling around with his phone and feeling excited about covering the office opening on Tech in Asia’s new snapchat account.

Crossing the road and a row of shop houses, a brightly lit space on the second floor of a shop house caught our attention. At the door, we were greeted with the unmistakable TradeGecko green hue.

Stepping in, we were greeted by a motley crew of startup folks and entrepreneurs. Alicia, TradeGecko’s social media and community manager wiggled her way through the crowd, extended and warm welcome and told us to grab some drinks from the bar.

With our Royal South Side’s armed in hand, we found Greg, who does communications and PR for TradeGecko. He tells us about the old office, which was a co-working space and how it was actually a stones throw away from the new one. Adding that there’s so much they could do now to make it feel like home, emphasizing on the positive impact of the company culture and the excitement for the next chapter of TradeGecko.
