Denso: A Social Video Magazine App That Keeps You Glued to your Tablet

The folks at Anideo have just launched another new app. This time it is Denso, an app which the team describes as a cross between Flipboard and Instapaper – but for videos. I have been fiddling with the app for the past hour watching a ton of videos.

The video content listed within the app’s library is pretty good. But I think what makes Denso really awesome is its discovery feature. It provides a neat list of video categories for folks to explore and subscribe to. Within a couple of minutes, you can find some of your favorite channels and put them onto your watch list. My personal favorites include CollegeHumor, TED, and Wired.

Once subscribed, these videos will stay on your homepage for easy accessibility. For example, if I subscribe to Fail Blog, Fail Blog’s videos can be found under my personal subscribed Comedy section right on my homepage. Arun Thampi of Anideo explained further:

There are a few channels whose videos are curated from Youtube. But we also support many other sources such as MSNBC, Fox, CNN, ESPN and many more [are] planned.

Denso is pretty social with video too. If you authenticate your Facebook and Twitter accounts, the app will pull videos your friends have shared on their social networks. Arun explained that it isn’t just direct video links which will be extracted. Even articles with embedded videos shared on Twitter and Facebook will also be included into Denso’s social video stream. I must say it’s fun to watch videos sourced from your online social network, and Denso made it pretty easy to catch them all in a single page.
