Phantasy Star Online 2, the long awaited follow up to Sega’s seminal online RPG, has only been out in the Southeast Asian (SEA) region since May. As such, the SEA client hasn’t seen as much content as Japan’s, which has been active since 2012. This is about to change though, with the announcement that Dark Falz, the final boss of the game’s first episode will now be accessible to Phantasy Star Online 2 SEA players.
Series veterans will remember Dark Falz from the original Phantasy Star Online. Back then, this “god of death and destruction” also served as the final boss of Phantasy Star Online’s first episode. With the new update, players can now once again face off against this classic boss.

Dark Falz will have two forms for players to fight against. Groups of twelve can face off against Dark Falz Arms and Dark Falz Elder. Dark Falz Arms can be repeated multiple times and will be a good source of experience. Once cleared, players will be able to access Dark Falz Elder. This final Dark Falz can only ever be cleared once, but gives players a chance to earn special drops.
In addition to Dark Falz, the new update also brings with it other changes that should appeal to advanced Phantasy Star Online 2 players. First among these are increased level caps for a player’s main and sub class.

Other additions include a new Sudden Death ranking, and a new difficulty level—Very Hard Mode. Rounding these off are a bunch of new ten-star weapons from both the in-game Pyroxene shop and as rewards for AC Scratch completions.
To celebrate the release of this patch, Asiasoft will be releasing four collectible prepaid cards. Of the four, three will only be available at 7-Eleven shops in Singapore and Malaysia.
Additionally, it will also be offering a special bundle for players who last logged into the game before July 31, 2014. This Welcome Back bundle will include with it one gold scratch, three 3 Days of Quarter Use tickets, one 1000 Fun ticket, three Exp Earned +50% tickets, two Upgrade Rate Success +5% tickets, two Rare Item Drop Rate +5% tickets, and one Half Revival Kit.
This Welcome Back Pack, which is available only until October 2, 2014, should help lapsed players get stronger in preparation for Dark Falz.
