Indonesia-based fintech firm Dana and its backer, Ant Group, have launched SisBerdaya, a program that aims to help female entrepreneurs from Indonesia develop business management and digital skills.
The course will consist of a three-month mentorship and competition. A panel of judges will select 180 applications, who will receive a token cash prize and access to a one-month mentorship program.
The materials developed during the skills training period and mentorship will also be made available to the public on the Dana app after the program ends.
Following the training period, participants will submit their business plans for final judgment. The top five will go to Jakarta for a final pitching competition in May, competing to win up to 20 million rupiah (US$1,299).
“Only 19% of the 500,000 MSMEs registered with Dana Bisnis are led by women,” Agustina Samara, chief people and corporate strategy of Dana Indonesia, said in a press statement.
The program will be open to participants from ultra-micro firms, with a maximum of five staff and up to 10 million rupiah (US$649.6) of monthly revenue, as well as micro firms, which have a workforce of up to 20 people and at most 30 million rupiah (US$1,948) in monthly revenue.
Dana last raised US$250 million in its latest funding round in August of 2022. The digital wallet company also saw Ant Group affiliate Alibaba buy US$304.5 million in shares from existing investor Emtek.
