CyberAgent Ventures Launches Net Impact Conference, Aims To Help Indonesia’s Internet Ecosystem

cyberagent-venturesThe folks over at CyberAgent Ventures Indonesia have informed us that they will be holding Net Impact on March 7th, 9.30am to 6.00pm, at the Grand Hyatt Jakarta. The conference will cater to Indonesian entrepreneurs, and it’s the first CyberAgent Ventures’ initiative to help improve the Internet ecosystem in Indonesia.

When I spoke to managing director Takahiro Suzuki recently, he did hint about the event. And from what I can understand, CyberAgent Ventures is very much taking a “build the market first and invest later” approach for Indonesia.

Another CyberAgent Ventures Indonesia representative, Steven Vanada, further explained the agenda of the conference:

We hope to make this event a useful learning experience for the local entrepreneurs. [Through the conference] they can discover not only new information but also new ideas, strategies to boost the growth of their own business.

Also we would like to share with local entrepreneurs the current conditions and [our] view of the Asia market first-hand, based on the experience from entrepreneurs of the respective markets in China, Japan, and Vietnam.

Although this is the first time CyberAgent Ventures is organizing a conference in Indonesia, the Japanese VC firm has held similar conferences in Beijing, Shenzhen, and Ho Chi Minh. Besides educating the local entrepreneurs, CyberAgent gains invaluable information and contacts from grassroots entrepreneurs which helps them understand the tech startup landscape in Indonesia more quickly.

The conference is free but is invitation only for now. CyberAgent Ventures tells me that they wish to get in plenty of local entrepreneurs first before opening up the conference to the public.

Our fellow Indonesian writer, Joshua Kevin, will be helping CyberAgent Ventures to select some interesting startups to join the Net Impact conference.

If you’re interested, send Joshua an email, with the subject line “Net Impact Invite.”
