Review
By reading these reviews and ratings, you agree to Tech in Asia’s terms of use.
We took their money because of the brand, process was unorganised and hinged on randomly meeting Wilson who was not friendly at all - we should have known at that point int ime.
I flew to Singapore to meet Willson for 30 minutes, closed the deal while still standing in the urinal, flew back with a million dollars and East Ventures as our lead investor. In less than 24 hours, every other investor FOMO-ed in and we closed the round. Willson is nothing short of legendary and its no secret that he is the most influential tech investor in the region.
East Venture invested in us five years ago. It took Willson less than an hour to grasp the concept, offering insight and advise, and seal the deal - which was impressive. He is sharp, decisive, straighfoward investors who will not sugarcoat his feedback (and he doesn't expect you to sugarcoat too). The support team followed up promptly and made the process as seamless as possible. Appreciate small act like finding us affordable lawyer and affordable corp sec. It means a lot for start-up like us. After raising subsequent round from other investors, I would say raising from EV (terms and process) was relatively smooth, fair, and friendly.
Ego. If you praise him, find raising will be quick. He believes he is God.
Look for proper investor, these guys just spray and pray and add 0 value.
Get in front of Willson, the rest of the team is waste of time
Made tough times even tougher. Was more focused on fundraising than fundamentals of the business
pretty hands-off. the junior would reach out from time to time to hear updates but little input provided
Not great, after one year, difficult to find time with the investor, especially when you are not in the best top 5% of his portfolio. Difficult to get EV to help with the next round, at least that was our experience. Maybe we were written off earlier.
This investor has “God syndrome”. Everything is eventually decided by one person.
My only key experience is with Willson. It's a question on how East Ventures can scale without Willson as the sole decision maker.
Clone Willson and Roderick pleaseeeee
