Singapore mixed martial arts (MMA) firm One Championship has raised US$166 million in a series D round led by Sequoia Capital, it announced today. Other investors in this round include Temasek Holdings and Greenoaks Capital. This brings the total amount that One Championship has raised to over US$250 million.

The company started out organizing MMA competitions in Singapore and the region, securing broadcasting rights with various TV channels.

However, with Sequoia’s involvement, it ventured into becoming an online media company for martial arts. Sequoia participated in One Championship’s series C round last year.

One Championship had plans to roll out a YouTube-like service for the martial arts world this year, founder and CEO Chatri Sityodtong told Tech in Asia in a previous interview. The app went live in April and is now a top 10 sports app on iOS in seven countries.
