Hello readers,
“Divide et impera” or “divide and conquer” is a battlefield tactic attributed to Macedonian monarch Philip II, and frequently used by Roman conqueror Julius Caesar, and French emperor Napoleon.
However, modern business leaders might find better success by instead combining and conquering.
This week was a fairly big one for mergers and acquisitions, but the one hogging the headlines is I Squared Capital’s purchase and integration of two Singapore-based cloud migration services in a bid to capture a larger share of the cloud computing market, which is expected to reach US$40.3 billion in revenue in Southeast Asia alone by 2025.
The combined entity will have a team of over 300 professionals with expertise in cloud infrastructure and management as well as data, analytics, and application modernization, allowing it to provide services to a wider Southeast Asian and Indian audience.
If Caesar were alive today, I’m sure even he’d be impressed with I Squared Capital’s move – provided, of course, that its conquest of the region is successful.
