An M&A-heavy week for Asian startups

Hello readers,

This week was a big one for M&As, with nine deals taking place across the region.

Out of the nine companies that were acquired, only three disclosed how much money changed hands. Still, those three businesses sold for a whopping US$1.9 billion – that accounts for almost half the total disclosed amount of all the deals that happened this week!

Like initial public offerings but, to a lesser extent, M&As are an indicator of a startup ecosystem’s maturity level. Generally (like, super generally), the more M&As take place, the more mature the ecosystem is becoming.

Hopefully, we see more blockbuster weeks in the future, maybe even to the point where nine M&As are just another week for tech in Asia.

You can find all other important investment deals that happened in the last few days in our weekly funding news wrap-up.

Let’s dive into the biggest deals and M&As that recently took place.
