The latest social network on the scene aims to also be your “personal time capsule”, showing you a timeline of the events in your life. AnkhMap is currently in closed beta so we thought we’ll show you a few screenshots first to acquaint you with the site.
First, Ankhmap tries to help users consolidate happenings in their lives onto one platform and shows this visually via their Time Wall. The Time Wall shows you chronologically the events that transpired in your life, provided that you have previously blogged about an event, added pictures for an event, or said “yes” to having attended an event (uploaded by a friend).
The colours on the left side show the moods you had when you experienced those events, from top to bottom, best to worst. When entering information about an event, there is a list of pre-set moods you can choose from, ranging from the best (“Out of this world!”) to the worst (“Disgusting”). So in your Time Wall, you can see a distribution of how you were feeling during the various events in your life.

Time Wall
I can see why a timeline is compelling as it is a visual manifestation of a person’s life, in a metaphysical way, it reaffirms one’s existence in the world. But, timelines aren’t new. Though AnkhMap’s twist is its emotion colour gauge, effectively allowing someone to view his/her emotional history over the course his/her life.

Blogging on AnkhMap.
If we move away from the Time Wall, then I don’t see much difference between AnkhMap and other social networks. People can also blog, share pictures, tag friends (thereby showing who ‘attended’ the event as well) all in Facebook. I’m not sure if AnkhMap’s Time Wall is compelling enough to users who currently share their lives with friends using other means to switch to an entirely new system.
Regarding a business model, I’m not sure how AnkhMap intends to make money off the service but as long as they themselves find it useful, then AnkhMap has done its job.
And if you’re wondering how the name AnkaMap came about, in their words:
