Green and Smart Mobility (GSM) has officially launched its e-motorcycle hailing service Green SM Bike in Hanoi. This sets the company in direct competition with major regional players such as Grab and Gojek.

Thanh Nguyen, the CEO of GSM and deputy CEO at VinFast and Vingroup, said in a LinkedIn post that the company plans to expand to Ho Chi Minh City and other markets in Vietnam.

The launch of Green SM Bike follows the roll-out of GSM’s e-taxi hailing service in April this year.

GSM aims to take its taxi-hailing service to 27 provinces and three countries. As for Green SM Bike, the firm looks to expand the service to five Vietnamese localities and have a total of 60,000 electric two-wheelers on the road by the end of this year.

Nguyen said the services are part of GSM’s efforts to help Vietnam achieve its net-zero goal by 2050.

GSM was launched earlier this year by Pham Nhat Vuong, the founder of both VinFast and Vingroup. The Vietnamese billionaire owns a 95% stake in GSM, which has a charter capital of US$125.7 million.

Meanwhile, VinFast is set to go public in the US via the SPAC route tomorrow.
