2014 was the year of the smart gadget in China: almost every major tech company announced that they were making a smart something, and smart TVs were right at the front of the pack. But as the dust settles on 2014, which Chinese company has actually gotten the most people to buy and use their smart TV? The answer might surprise you.

According to Sina Tech, China had a total of 31 million mainstream-brand smart TV users as of the end of 2014. Haier led the pack with 8 million users and Xiaomi brought up the rear with just 300,000. Here’s the full data set:

It’s interesting that the internet companies – Xiaomi and LeTV – have by far the lowest numbers of users, although that could have something to do with limited supplies. That said, both TVs are available for sale as of this writing, so it may just be that China’s consumers prefer buying smart TVs from brands that have been in the TV business for longer.
