China’s Moonshot AI reportedly raises $500m series C
Moonshot AI, a Beijing-based AI firm, has raised US$500 million in a series C funding round, according to Chinese tech media outlet LatePost.
IDG Capital led the round with a US$150 million investment, while Alibaba and Tencent also joined.
The report said Moonshot AI’s valuation reached US$4.3 billion, with cash reserves now over 10 billion yuan (US$1.4 billion), citing an internal letter from founder and CEO Yang Zhilin.
Yang told staff the company is not planning an IPO in the near term but did not rule out a future listing.
A recent US government report cited Moonshot AI as evidence of China’s expanding AI sector.
Moonshot AI did not comment on the funding report.
