Queues stretch across China at midnight as iPhone 6 launches

Queues formed outside many stores across China before today’s launch of the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus on all three carriers. Lines of varying lengths appeared outside telco shops before an unusual midnight opening. Apple’s official stores in China opened at the usual time this morning.

According to images from the People’s Daily shared on Weibo, this was that scene outside one China Unicom store in Taiyuan, Shanxi province, before the iPhone’s midnight debut:

One Weibo user photographed queues outside a China Telecom store in Shanghai in the middle of the night:

There were also queues, according to the China Daily, outside the Apple Store in Beijing’s Sanlitun area as it opened this morning.
