Oh boy… China really loves Apple products. This week, we heard news about a fake Apple store and today, we learned from the folks over at M.I.C Gadget that a financial teacher has demanded his students to bring an iPad for lessons… Otherwise, they will not be allowed in his class – stating that students who don’t have one should work to buy an iPad over the summer holidays.
Here’s the message he sent via Weibo, broadcasting his “iPad class requirement” to his students and the world (translated):
“Started from the next semester, I will be using an iPad to teach the Financial lesson, all the lectures, exams, information will only given out in iPad compatibility mode.
I hope every students would go and purchase an iPad, because iPad represents the most modern thinking, and my students must [be] like that. If you don’t have money to buy one, then you go to earn money. If you cannot earn merely $4000 Yuan (around $615) within the holiday, then you are not suit in this course, and you are not necessary to be my student. Poverty or rich doesn’t reflect on your family background, but reflected on your ability.”
Okay, Mr big iPad smartass meanie. This is just plain stupid, especially when we understand that people in China can do crazy things just for these shinny Apple products – selling their kidney or virginity (there’s no typo here). Additional pressure from the teacher is just going to make matter worst.
Perhaps he really should work for Apple as a sales person or as an Apple genius instead…
