Hello reader,
Sometimes when I read about startups, I think about the kinds of content they could put out and whether it would be compelling.
For example, as much as I enjoy the fun and convenience that ecommerce offers, my brain shuts down in protest at the thought of trying to find a thousand different ways to say “here’s a discount, please buy.”
On the other hand, any firm that’s in the sustainability game has great content potential in my opinion – mainly due to the worthwhile cause they are pursuing. Thinking about how they go about fighting against the ever-increasing wave of consumerism also brings up its fair share of intriguing angles and ideas.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at the story of Charged Asia, a Singapore-headquartered manufacturer of electric motorcycles.
Today we look at:
- The e-bike startup charging into Southeast Asia’s EV battlegrounds
- The extra US$500,000 Baskit has to propel its growth
- Other newsy highlights such as Carro’s best quarterly financial results and Alibaba’s 70% year-on-year surge in income

I’m made of metal
My circuits gleam
I am perpetual
I keep the country clean
I don’t think metal band Judas Priest was thinking about e-motorcycles when it came out with Electric Eye, but some of the lyrics fit the bill, don’t they?
Check out my amazing segue (that I totally didn’t have to force just because I wanted to talk about Judas Priest): Charged Asia, the subject of today’s featured premium story, hopes to make as big a splash in the EV scene as Judas Priest did in the metal world.
And the startup has some built-in advantages that’ll help it move quicker than its competitors.
Wish someone would extend me US$500,000
