ByteDance folds parts of Lark into AI, cloud teams
ByteDance has folded parts of its workplace software operations into AI and cloud teams as it deepens its push to sell AI tools to businesses, according to an internal memo seen on July 30.
The product team of office tool Lark, known as Feishu in China, will join the Doubao chatbot team led by Zhao Qi, while David Xie Xin, CEO of the Lark unit, will report to Zhao.
Lark’s sales, marketing, and customer service staff will move under Volcano Engine president Tan Dai.
Its development and infrastructure team will merge into Flow, a division focused on AI applications.
ByteDance’s annualised AI revenue had reached US$4 billion. That is not the largest publicly disclosed figure among Chinese peers.
Alibaba Cloud said its annualised AI-related product revenue surpassed US$5.2 billion in fiscal 2026.
The restructuring comes as China’s workplace software market adds more AI features. DingTalk recently rolled out Agent OS for enterprise AI agents.
