ByteDance is merging the teams behind its coding platform Trae and agent-building tool Coze into its chatbot Doubao in China, according to people familiar with the matter.

The company also plans to launch a separate app called Doubao Work as early as this week, the people said.

The move expands ByteDance’s effort to consolidate more of its AI products under the Doubao banner.

The company recently moved workplace collaboration software Lark into the Doubao team as competition in China’s AI workplace assistant market heats up.

Tencent’s WorkBuddy recorded 21 million monthly visits in June. Alibaba has also folded smaller AI office tools into Qwen Work.
