Chinese tech giant ByteDance is in negotiations with music labels to roll out its music-streaming service globally, the Wall Street Journal reported.
The move will put the TikTok maker in competition with industry leaders such as Spotify and Apple Music.
ByteDance plans to integrate Resso, its music-streaming offering, within the TikTok app. The company also intends to scale the service to serve as a major platform for the distribution of music worldwide, according to the report.
The integration of Resso into the short-video platform may also help TikTok artists earn more money with their content.
