For a few startups, at least, the new year brought in new money. This week, 96 deals worth over US$1.5 billion took place – not too shabby for the first week of 2021.

BIGGEST DEALS BY COUNTRY
🇮🇳 Udaan: The Indian business-to-business marketplace bagged US$280 million from Altimeter Capital, DST Global, GGV Capital, Lightspeed Venture Partners, Octahedron Capital, and Tencent in a series E funding round.
🇨🇳 Enflame: This China-based AI research and development company raised US$277 million in series C money from CICC Capital, CITIC PE, Primavera Capital, Redpoint China Ventures, SummitView Capital, and Tencent Investment.
🇰🇷 Kakao Enterprise: This South Korean AI tech provider scored a US$90 million late-stage funding round from KDB Bank.
🇮🇩 Bibit: The Indonesian robo-advisory platform raised US$30 million in early-stage funding from 500 Startups, AC Ventures, EV Growth, East Ventures, and Sequoia Capital.
