Bukalapak founder’s non-profit launches startup training program

The Achmad Zaky Foundation, a non-profit organization (NPO) set up by Bukalapak founder Achmad Zaky that supports social impact initiatives, has created startup training program in Indonesia.

The StartUp Campus 2021 program was established with support from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) as well as Endeavor Indonesia, 500 Startups, and various other parties.

It aims to provide opportunities for the younger generation to gain the skills and the know-how to be successful in the startup world, Zaky said. The training program comes with a guaranteed 20 credit unit conversion, which is supported by Kemendikbudristek.

As part of StartUp Campus’ assessment criteria, participants must form a team consisting of at least two people and have a sound startup idea.

Registrations for the program for its second period will be available starting from July 1 to July 15 this year. Successful applicants will be chosen after three stages of selection that comprises the administration process, the explanation of the startup ideas and team profiles, and interviews.

Zaky, who is also a co-founder of the investment company Init 6, said that StartUp Campus shares the same goal as Kemendikbudristek’s Kampus Merdeka initiative, which is to provide opportunities for academics to gain hands-on experience by building careers and businesses.

“The digital industry is growing rapidly all across the globe, including in Indonesia,” he shared. “We believe that the potential and talent of Indonesia’s young generation in the technology and creative sectors are highly promising.”
