So the latest trailer for Bandai Namco’s upcoming soul-destroyer (I mean game) Dark Souls II is out and well, it looks pretty damn soul destroying. The enemies look way more varied thanDark Souls and it seems like we have a few more moves to play with, and by the looks of things we are going to need them.
By the looks of it, the sequel is giving us a few more moves and a wider, more varied selection of enemies to use them on. If this new trailer is any indication of what’s to expect, we are going to need every last one of them.
Some of these enemies look downright terrifying, especially the giant axe wielding mummy at 1:19 and the long armed flayed guy from 1:26, that’s the stuff my nightmares are made from! Many of the enemies look freaking huge and seem more than capable of giving players the thrashing they are excited about.
The other point is that Dark Souls II is looking much prettier than its predecessors. There seems to be a lot more color to the palette of Dark Souls II which will be nice for players who got bored of the black, dark, dank feel of Dark Souls. Also both the characters and the enemies have a much higher level of detail so our characters are just going to look fantastic as they are smashed into pulp by a pissed off cyclops!
The trailer is more story heavy than the previous trailers and wants us all to focus on “The Curse,” whatever that is. This struck me as odd seeing as how I considered the character from Dark Souls to be pretty damn cursed (you know the undead guy) but no one made a trailer out of it. Anyway I am fairly sure that the story is going to be fairly secondary to me when I grind my way through the same goddamned area for the fortieth time in a row.
The game looks hard, the enemies look tough, and that means Dark Souls II is going to keep its fans happy.
