Technology has always shaped how people play video games.
With the invention of the television came home video game consoles. When personal computers entered the fray, so did desktop gaming. And as mobile phone usage soared, mobile gaming followed.
Now, as Southeast Asia is becoming a hotbed for blockchain innovation, numerous startups are rolling out play-to-earn games powered by the technology. One of these developers is Animoca Brands, a US$5 billion Web3 empire headquartered in Hong Kong.

Aside from the acquisition spree that the company has been on since the start of the year, it boasts a metaverse-centric investment portfolio of over 340 projects and firms involved with NFTs, including Axie Infinity developer Sky Mavis. If anyone knows what lies in the future for gaming in the blockchain and Web3 industry, it’s Animoca Brands.
Co-founder and executive chairman Yat Siu will take the stage at Tech in Asia Conference 2022 on Wednesday, September 21, at 3.30 p.m. SGT with Yield Guild Games co-founder Gabby Dizon in a panel discussion moderated by iCandy Interactive chief marketing officer Shn Juay.
