In brief: Go-Jek’s reported Philippines entry in limbo as regulator freezes new licenses
The Philippine Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) said Indonesian ride-hailing company Go-Jek filed an application to operate in the Philippines, but it was not entertained as the government issued a moratorium on accrediting “transport network companies” (TNCs) last month.
In May, the LTFRB said it met with representatives of Go-Jek to discuss the possibility of its entry to the Philippines after Uber exited the scene.

Go-Jek announced its US$500 million plan to expand beyond Indonesia in May, targeting Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, and the Philippines.
It has set up “autonomous” local brands in Thailand and Vietnam, named Get and Go-Viet, respectively.
Previous reports suggested that Go-Jek had registered a local entity called Velox, or had partnered with an existing Philippine company of the same name.
The LTFRB issued a circular confirming the freeze on new TNC licenses last month.
