BRI Ventures is set to collaborate with Indonesia’s School of Business and Management ITB to launch a set of venture capital courses at the educational institution this year.

The courses will be part of ITB’s undergraduate and graduate programs at its Jakarta and Bandung campuses.

The “VC I – Introduction to Venture Capital Management” course will teach students about basic venture capital principles and offer exposure to startup ecosystems, while “VC II – Venture Capital Valuation and Strategy” will look into the venture capital industry at a more granular level via deeper discussions with industry experts.

“There’s a big paradigm shift happening right now in the economy. Ten years ago, venture capital wasn’t considered a career and now has become one of the ideal accomplishments among local business students,” said Nicko Widjaja, CEO of BRI Ventures.

The VC courses are expected to open up fresh job opportunities for students aspiring to become professional investors.

The tie-up comes amid a rush among VCs to invest in the Indonesian market, where startups raised more than US$1.9 billion from 52 fundraising rounds in the third quarter of 2020, according to the Indonesian Venture and Startup Association.
