idblogNetwork Talks About The Blogosphere in Indonesia

idblogNetwork is one of the largest blog ad networks that helps brands promote their products through its 4,800 bloggers in Indonesia. What’s most impressive is that the blog network became profitable within three months since its launch, an achievement that most start-ups struggle to reach.

Since idblogNetwork works with bloggers on a daily basis, we took time to talk to Kukuh TW, co-founder and CTO at idblogNetwork to understand Indonesia’s blogosphere.

Active – offline and online

In general, Kukuh says that the Indonesian blogosphere is pretty dynamic – both online and offline. Indonesian bloggers are likely to meet each other and they are active to comment and participate on each others’ blogs. At different regions, there are different blogger communities. Kukuh told us that there are:

In terms of blogging platform, Kukuh says that Blogspot is the most popular among Indonesians. “Blogspot is the most popular platform, because it allows bloggers to put advertisements script within their blogs while others like WordPress and Multiply do not allow you to do that,” said Kukuh.

So what kind of blogs are most popular in Indonesia? According to Kukuh, blogs that spread news relating to Indonesian celebrities, musicians, gadgets, fashion, and politicians are most likely to be visited.

Other popular blogs include topics like online businesses, blog tutorials, and price comparison. In Indonesia, the youth dominate the Indonesian blogosphere. Kukuh said that typically a young person generally has an idol who they follow closely in the entertainment industry. Anything related to the entertainment industry like personal life of the celebrities will attract their attention.

When asked about advertising on these blogs, Kukuh explained:

Most advertisers believe bloggers are very good influencers. They have a large number of readers who usually seek recommendation about product/services they are willing to buy.
