Bitget reports 86% rise in bitcoin holdings

Bitget, a cryptocurrency exchange, said its bitcoin holdings rose 86% year-on-year to about 36,700 BTC.

Data from CryptoQuant cited in the report shows holdings rose from roughly 19,700 BTC in early 2025 to about 36,700 BTC by late February 2026.

The exchange also recorded US$206.0 million in net inflows in February.

According to DefiLlama, Bitget ranked third globally among centralized exchanges for February net inflows.

Bitget also launched Agent Hub in February, an AI trading infrastructure that lets automated agents access market data and execute trades via the exchange API.

The exchange upgraded its mobile app to add a TradFi tab listing stock-linked products, FX, indices, commodities, and precious metals alongside cryptocurrency products.

The report said Bitget ranked sixth globally by trading volume in 2025.

🧠 Food for thought

Implications, context, and why it matters.

Bitget says its inflows are backed by overcollateralized reserves

  • Bitget’s February 2026 Proof of Reserves report says the exchange holds a total reserve ratio of 169%, above the 1:1 benchmark 1.
  • The same February 2026 snapshot lists reserve ratios of 352% for Bitcoin and 147% for Ethereum (ETH) 1.
  • Bitget says Proof of Reserves sits within a wider security setup that includes a Protection Fund plus continuous risk monitoring systems 1.

Bitget presents Agent Hub as AI-native trading infrastructure

  • Bitget describes Agent Hub as AI-era crypto trading infrastructure for developers. A March 2026 upgrade added “Skills” and a command-line interface (CLI), a text-based tool developers use to run commands 2.
  • Bitget says developers can connect Agent Hub to OpenClaw in about three minutes. Bitget describes OpenClaw as a tool that helps connect and run automated agents, which lets AI agents pull market data and place trades through Bitget’s APIs 2.
  • This approach suggests exchanges may face pressure to tighten developer tools plus AI features, though this is analysis rather than a claim in the source 2.
