Binance unveils plan to build decentralized storage system

Binance’s BNB Chain, which it said is the biggest smart contract blockchain in terms of daily users, has released the whitepaper for its decentralized storage offering.

In a statement, BNB Chain said its goal with the new offering – called BNB Greenfield – is to let users better control their data and provide them “with the ability to financialize it.”

With BNB Greenfield, the company said users can store in a similar fashion to Dropbox. However, other features also include allowing Amazon Web Services (AWS) to manage data and storage of historical BNB Smart Chain data. Users can also deploy websites quickly without a credit card with BNB Greenfield.

BNB Chain added that its core team, along with developer teams from companies like AWS, NodeReal, and Blockdaemon, are working on the service already.

A testnet for BNB Greenfield is slated to launch in the coming months. It will use BNB as its native token and will be the third blockchain in the BNB ecosystem.
