Ex-Temasek execs join new AI startup Resaro.ai

In November, Liu Feng Yuan – whose startup, BasisAI, was acquired by Temasek subsidiary Aicadium in 2021 – joined a new venture called Resaro.ai as partner and vice president of product. Now, Resaro.ai’s LinkedIn page lists two more employees, both of whom are former Temasek executives.

April Chin, formerly an employee at both BasisAI and Aicadium, has joined as partner and director of strategic partnerships. Wendy Wan, who came from Trustana – another Temasek-backed startup – is now Resaro.ai’s people manager.

Liu previously described Resaro.ai as a “third-party AI safety, assurance, and testing” firm. On its website, the company says it is at the “forefront of ensuring the responsible, safe, and robust deployment of artificial intelligence.”

Resaro.ai states that it helps customers select and adopt AI tech through algorithmic audits, technical stress testing, and assurance. It is hiring for positions that include “Responsible AI Scientists.”

According to Liu’s LinkedIn profile, he joined Resaro.ai in August and stepped down as Aicadium’s vice president of business development in September. It’s unclear if Resaro.ai has links to Aicadium or if it is a separate company.

Since Liu joined the firm, Resaro.ai has participated in a couple of AI-related initiatives from the Singapore government. In October, the company participated in a roundtable session discussing AI cooperation between Singapore and the US. It was one of seven companies – including Grab and Nium – that represented Singapore’s business community.

Meanwhile in November, Resaro.ai was part of a third-party testing ecosystem for the Generative AI Evaluation Sandbox, an experimental AI platform launched by the Infocomm Media Development Authority and the AI Verify Foundation.

Prior to establishing BasisAI, Liu had a long career as a civil servant, with stints at Singapore’s Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Trade and Industry, Land Transport Authority, and GovTech.

Apart from being a President’s Scholar – considered the government’s most distinguished scholarship for local undergraduates – Liu is also a commission member at the Competition and Consumer Commission of Singapore.
