Core Masters' open beta test set to enslave Japanese youths starting today

Core Masters, a brand-new MOBA from Korean developer Soft Bigbang, has opened its gates for open beta testing in Japan today, while the rest of the world asks themselves for the millionth time why the Japanese get all the coolest games first.

MOBAs are pretty much the MMORPGs of the 00s; it’s the hottest game genre out right now that every developer wants a slice of. Core Masters looks incredibly similar to League of Legends, even featuring the same free hero-cycling system as LoL. However, the game is pretty different in its varied map designs and free-for-all mode.

32 masters (heroes for Dota 2 fans, champions for the LoL lovers) will be available for play free-of-charge for the open beta test.

Core Masters is Soft Bigbang’s maiden game, and honestly I am trying to get over the oxymoron of a soft big bang, while simultaneously dealing with the irony of a company named after an event that created our Universe but only releases games in open beta tests in small (albeit densely-populated) countries.

Although an English site for the game has been set up, there is still no news on when English-speaking audiences may get their hands on this game. We can only pray that Soft Bigbang will mercifully bestow upon us yet another MOBA to sink all of our time into.

The open beta test ends May 20, so if you’re in Japan, you might want to hurry up and get started on taking this game for a whirl.
