The rise and fall of HTC (INFOGRAPHIC)
they also kept onto the original HTC Sense with that ubiquitous flip clock widget for too long. I got sick of looking at that. was glad to be rid of that damn clock when I switched from my HTC Desire to Nexus S.

Apple's success seems to suggest you can keep a core design for 2 years - like iPhone 5 and 5s - but then you have to go back to a clean sheet. it really is amazing that HTC failed to do that.

The rise and fall of HTC (INFOGRAPHIC)
rather sinister. but not really all that different from Donald Trump recently saying that he wants to spend more on the military (even though, in 2014, the US spent more on defense then the next 7 countries combined - http://www.businessinsider.com/us-military-spending-billions-2015-7) to make it "so great that it never needs to be used" (paraphrasing).

hi Kowarad. thanks for the AMA. i'd to ask: not many startups venture into China. so why and how are you doing that?

How Tech in Asia runs a million-dollar sales and marketing team
impressive start! I wonder how he came up with the idea for a CMS business rather than, say, a mobile gaming startup.

I wouldn't go that far. but, yes, it's not as mentally stimulating as positive interaction with another human - or perhaps with a pet, which gives a sense of responsibility. a craze that obsesses around an inanimate object does raise issues of - to put it politely - the owner's state of mind.

Otaku dream: this smart anime body pillow responds to your caress
ignoring the tech for a moment, I wonder why the body pillow is so appealing rather than a soft, realistic-feeling mannequin of some kind. a mannequin would also be soft and huggable - plus it would have curves and squeezable br... er, areas.

yes, it happened quickly in China from 2007~2008 (the first iPhone followed by Android phones) to this year. now that smartphones are getting so cheap (and some budget phones for about US$120 are really good), I don't think smartphone growth will be bound too closely to India's overall economic growth - i.e.: even if India's economy stalls, smartphones are essential and affordable.

I really like the "CEO for hire" line about Rocket execs - that's always been my feeling about how Rocket operates. but, hey, it's working out OK for them.

it's great to see new brands emerge to push forward EVs because top automakers have been pretty slow. however, I'm skeptical about GLM and Tommykaira. full-size photos of the GLM EV reveal that it doesn't really look top-quality enough for the $67k price tag. and remember the Porsche Boxster starts at about US$55k in Japan - see http://www.porsche.com/japan/jp/models/boxster/boxster/. just being electric is not enough - it's also gotta feel as premium as anything from Porsche, Audi, Merc, BMW, etc. that's what Tesla has achieved. Tommykaira has been around for a while, but it hasn't yet nailed that kinda premium feel.

I really like this idea and I want to use one. but I wonder how tough it is for startups to get into an airport. from what I've heard from some startups that deal with retail, getting into a mall is difficult enough, so dealing with airports must be a nightmare. also factor in state-owned airports, etc etc.

OnePlus 2 is a flawed but enjoyable sequel (REVIEW)
Perhaps that's just me being a neat freak and only leaving open a couple of messaging apps and the Music app on my iPhone. but I'd never dream of leaving an app like Music running in Android or the phone would be dead by lunchtime.
