Crazy Japanese Tower Defense Game ‘Battle Cats’ Invades Android Platform
You'll need to finish chapter 3, which is tricky. I'm not there yet either. But if you invite some friends to earn some cat food, you can buy some special cats to help you get there.

@Meeku-p, I think I was pretty clear about the distinction. And yes, of course, the original Pigg is not closed.

It resembled last year's graphic with the same layered ipads -- and that was a dragon. Sorry, my familiarity with the Chinese zodiac is somewhat lacking. I've updated the post.

Yes, I imagine sooner or later many MOOCs will provide credit. Regardless, I think in many areas you don't even need credit to reap the benefits. For example, a company hiring a programmer might be far more interested in your github page than in your paper certifications. In an case, very exciting times!

MOOCs Won’t Replace Traditional Education. But They Don’t Have To
Yeah, bonehead currency conversion on my part. Clearly, I've never had such sums in my own pocket!

Arthur Guinness Fund Hackathon to Hit Singapore in December
@Kai, when you fire up your Line messenger app, you'll have a bunch of notifications on bottom for chat, friend additions, and 'more'. (see here: http://i.imgur.com/lKrR9.png ) This 'more' category includes when new games have been added, or for that matter, any other Line application that the company wants to highlight for its users. I've tuned out banner-ad cross promotion in apps, but these sort of 'red circle' notifications trigger something akin to a crack addiction which I have OSX Mail to thank for.

Hi @chickadvisor, Just to clarify, we aren't using the name 'chickadvisor' -- but merely reporting on it. Please go speak with ChickAdvisor if you feel there is a violation of some sort. Thank you!

Thanks Dawn. Cook didn't cite many other country specific figures besides China, or none that I recall at the moment. But for the previous quarter he noted a while back that Brazil was a little weak due to economic problems. I don't have specific figures for other regions, but I'll keep an eye out.

Booxify Wants to Introduce Some Novelty into Your Life
Thanks Jon, After my email correspondence with GWI, I had hoped to not even chime in on this at all. The Bloomberg piece was the catalyst though -- so for better or worse, there's my two fen. Yeah, I tried to avoid naming names in the body text (hence the relegation to footnotes), as I thought it would distract from the issue at hand. Though as I said, I think the original update on TNW was very weak in terms of addressing the issue and delivering the new information to readers up front. The second piece was more encouraging, for sure. Thanks for swinging by! Rick

@Gangnam, not quite. This was made by NHN Japan, as opposed to NHN proper in Korea. Though admittedly, it's confusing.

Fun New Language Tools in iOS 6 and OS X
Hi Fay, just added Singapore -- so I trust your day has now gone from sad to outstanding! Apologies for the omission. It was not intentional, but a bonehead oversight. Sorry. Also, you'll notice that Singapore is not actually getting all the new features. It has most of the map features, but will have to wait for some of the Siri functions.

I'm in the same boat as you Charlie, as I think my Mac hardware has been more troublesome than I expected considering the money I paid for it. But nevertheless, I still picked up a Macbook Air last month just because I like Mac software better. There are so many applications for OS X that I think are built for people who *love* computers, as opposed to the Windows eco-system, which I think targets people who occasionally use computers. I'm not talking iMovie, which I admit, is not great -- but rather really fun 'gourmet' stuff like Byword, Text Expander, Keyboard Maestro, nvALT, or QuickCal. That's why I stay with Mac. At least for now. But I almost didn't. In addition to the Windows 'dark side' you mention, there's a grey sort of limbo worth exploring too: Ubuntu. When I was fed up with Mac hardware problems, it certainly made Lenovo ThinkPad's look a lot sexier. I like that they're modular, making it easy to add and remove parts. And the new 12.04 release does indeed look sharp. A much more attractive draw than Windows, if you ask me. Though for video editing, I don't know if it would suit you.
