I'm going to write a blog post about exit experience. Its more than just logging out, its also when you cancel a service. As I recently turned off a couple of services such as spotify. When you cancel your spotify subscription, it asks why, and then tries to answer your reason e.g. "its too expensive". it will say we also have a cheaper membership option available. In addition, if you do end up choosing to leave, they have a playlist that plays with an exit theme songs. Its hilarious! Someone has put some thought into it.

I'm very interesting in onboarding and can talk about this for a long time :) In short, I'd say that you have to get the customer to experience core product value as fast as possible. Its called an "aha moment" i.e. Aha! That's how the product works. I wrote a blog post about it here: http://inspiredworlds.com/finding-your-aha-moment/ For Facebook it was getting the user to 7 connections (7 friends) as fast as possible. Once they got that, they were tied into the system and understood the value of how it works. It was a tipping point. I'd also recommend checking out http://useronboard.com. Samuel Hulick does some great teardowns on apps/website onboarding experience of popular apps.

I like the idea of every screen serving a purpose of a primary action.

Yes, I believe UX is in real life too. I'll look at something like an elevator or a sign, and think "It doesn't make sense to me. that's really bad UX. Who thought of this?!!"

I'm curious as well. I suspect its part of the overall planning of the car park since Target was included. Someone has definitely taken the time to think about how to get to these stores from when you enter the car park.

I agree that extra surprises is a great idea. Its also how I think about product - metric movers, customer requests and customer delights. That extra step someone has taken to think about the end to end experience made a big difference to my experience with Apple. It would be interesting if they had an NPS score at the end of my experience after repairing the laptop. If they sent it the next day, I'd say it would be pretty high - 10/10 :)
