Alodokter, an Indonesia-based digital health platform, has launched Alni, a chat-based virtual assistant for doctors.

The company said Alni was developed since 2018 using data gathered from teleconsultations on the platform and feedback from doctors.

Alni uses conversational AI to prescreen patients through a series of questions and provides prediagnosis recommendations to Alodokter’s telemedicine doctors.

In a press statement, Suci Arumsari, president director of Alodokter, praised AI’s “infinite memory and patience to ask key questions to patients.” The company noted that over 80% of its general practitioners are aided by AI.

Alodokter provides a suite of integrated healthtech services including telemedicine, e-pharmacy, appointment booking, digital health insurance, and medical content. It currently has more than 1,500 hospitals and clinic partners, over 500 partner pharmacies, and around 1,000 doctors on its platform.

The company’s revenue from telehealth saw a year-on-year growth of 20% in 2022, Alodokter co-founder and CEO Nathanael Faibis told Tech in Asia. He added that the firm currently has more than 30 million monthly active users.

Faibis attributed the growth to the company’s ability to accommodate underserved communities in remote areas in Indonesia. He also shared that the startup is in “advanced discussion” for a new round and is putting “big focus” on becoming profitable soon.

Launched in 2014, Alodokter has raised about US$48 million in funding, according to Crunchbase data.
