The World Economic Forum has published its Global Information Technology report for 2010 and 2011. We were interested to see how Asian nations fared this year, and the results are interesting. The study includes the Network Readiness Index ranking, which is a sort of assessment of how well countries can take advantage of IT and communication technologies.
Sweden tops all nations, but Singapore comes in right behind at number two as it did the previous year. Meanwhile, Indonesia appears to have improved its ‘network readiness’ jumping 14 spots in the rankings 53rd spot from 67 the year before. Taiwan and Korea are both among the top ten nations, each jumping five places to 6th and 10th respectively.
For a closer look at how all nations fared, we’ve mapped the NRI rankings data below. Looking at things from a global perspective, we can see that North America, Western Europe, and parts of Asia are leading the way (green markers).
