Apple’s iPhone 5S and 5C Thai prices leaked – how real are they?
There have been rumors about the “official prices” of iPhone 5S and 5C spreading around Thailand over the past day. Whether they’re true or not, they’ve definitely got people talking. Here’s the rumored price list:
iPhone 5S
- 16 GB (All colors) is 24,550 Baht ($780)

- 32 GB (All colors) is 28,250 Baht ($900)
- 64 GB (All colors) is 31,950 Baht ($1025)
iPhone 5C
- 16 GB (White) is 20,700 Baht ($660)
- 32 GB (White) is 24,550 Baht ($780)
- 16 GB (Yellow) is 24,550 Baht ($780)
- 32 GB (Yellow) is 28,250 Baht ($900)
- 16 GB (Pink) is 24,550 Baht ($780)
- 32 GB (Pink) is 28,250 Baht ($900)
- 16 GB (Green) is 24,550 Baht ($780)
- 32 GB (Green) is 28,250 Baht ($900)
- 16 GB (Blue) is 24,550 Baht ($780)
- 32 GB (Blue) is 28,250 Baht ($900)
The prices are supposedly from a Thai telco: True Corporation. There’s no confirmation yet if they’re real, though. I contacted True’s representative but the company has no comment at this moment. However, some people are skeptical about these “official prices,” as they’ve noticed some things that are off:
- The official prices in Thailand are normally based on America’s prices. It’s a bit strange to see that the 32 GB 5C in yellow, pink, green, and blue are the same price as the 32 GB 5S. With the 5S’s position as being more “prestigious”, why would it have the same official price as the 5C?
- Why does the 5C come in different prices based on colors? On Apple’s official website, they are all the same price. I would understand if this was a grey market price. The prices could vary based on the demand for each color. But as an authorized retailer, shouldn’t True’s prices be based on Apple prices?
There’s no official release date for the iPhones in Thailand just yet, but the official prices are not normally published until close to release time. From various sources I talked to, that could be any time from the end of October until the end of the year.
So what do you think of this leak? Do you believe it’s true? The only way to find out is to wait and see when the “real” official prices are announced. I will keep you posted.
