Galaxy Tab 10.1 at Docomo launch event Thursday in Tokyo
Yesterday we told you about the Docomo rollout of the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 on its zippy LTE network. We’ve since learned that Apple has filed suit to halt the sales of certain Samsung devices in Japan, alleging patent violations.
The first hearing was on Wednesday, according to a Reuters report. Of course on the following day was the afore-mentioned Docomo launch of the Galaxy Tab. But Docomo president Ryuji Yamada seemed confident that things would be ok:
We have heard from Samsung that it’s all right… At this point we don’t think it will harm our sales.
The suit, which is in fact a countersuit to when Samsung filed suit against Apple in Japan in April, aims to ban the sales of the Galaxy S, the Galaxy S II, and the Galaxy Tab 7.
A previous Apple suit filed in Dusseldorf, Germany resulted in a ruling today that says Samsung Germany cannot sell the Galaxy Tab 10.1 in the EU (although other European divisions of the company can.)
