We got some interesting statistics about the Apple iOS in China, thanks to data from Umeng.com, a China-based mobile analytics company.
What strikes us most in the infographic is the percentage of jailbroken iOS devices in China (iPhones, iPod, iPad etc): 1 out of every 3 iOS devices in China is jailbroken.
In contrast, Cydia creator Jay Freeman estimates that more than 10% of all iPhones are jailbroken. Although Freeman didn’t state “all iOS devices,” his estimate on jailbroken iPhone still gives us a good point of comparison.
It is also interested to note that “jailbreaking” is legal in the U.S and also in several parts of the world. Last year, China Unicom also offered jailbroken iPhones and iPad as part of its service in China, at least according to the posters shown here.
The infographic also includes several interesting statistics like the iPad and iPhone usage period and the users’ geographic locations in China.
