Anthropic signs 20-year lease with bitcoin miner TeraWulf
TeraWulf, a US bitcoin miner and data center operator, said on July 6 that it had signed a 20-year lease with Anthropic for data center infrastructure.
The deal is expected to generate about US$19 billion in contracted revenue.
The announcement sent TeraWulf shares up more than 16% in premarket trading and gives the company a long-term AI customer as it expands beyond bitcoin mining.
That shift marks a significant shift for TeraWulf.
The company reported US$47.6 million in revenue for the second quarter of 2025, when bitcoin mining remained its primary business, and said high-performance computing (HPC) hosting revenue would begin in the third quarter of 2025
By February 2026, TeraWulf said it had contracted 522 MW of critical IT capacity, representing more than US$12.8 billion in revenue across its HPC platform, including campuses in New York and Texas.
The Anthropic agreement reflects a broader industry shift as bitcoin miners diversify into AI infrastructure.
Companies in the sector had announced US$65 billion in AI-related contracts by October 2025, while Applied Digital separately signed 250 MW of AI data center leases with CoreWeave under agreements lasting about 15 years.
