Amazon to invest $13b in India for AI, cloud push

Amazon said it will invest another US$13 billion in India through 2030 to expand AI and cloud infrastructure.

The company said the money will add Amazon Web Services (AWS) data center capacity in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

AWS already operates two regions in India, in Mumbai and Hyderabad.

The new pledge follows Amazon’s broader US$35 billion India commitment by 2030.

Amazon said the pledge would build on US$40 billion already invested in India.

Other tech companies are expanding in India as well. Microsoft plans to invest US$17.5 billion in the country’s cloud and AI infrastructure by 2029, while Google has announced US$15 billion for an AI hub and data center infrastructure there.
