Alibaba links Qwen AI to Taobao for chat shopping

Alibaba is preparing to connect its Qwen AI platform with Taobao in China, letting shoppers search, compare, and buy products through chat instead of keyword searches and product listings, according to a source.

The Qwen app would gain access to Taobao and Tmall’s catalog of more than 4 billion products, and use tools for logistics, after-sales support, and recommendations based on users’ purchase history and preferences.

Inside Taobao, Alibaba also plans to add a Qwen-powered shopping assistant with virtual try-on features and 30-day price tracking.
