Alibaba consolidates AI business into new Token Hub
Alibaba reorganized its AI business in the first half of 2026. The company moved Tongyi Lab, its model-as-a-service platform, Qwen, Wukong, and an AI Innovation team into the new Alibaba Token Hub under CEO Eddie Wu.
The restructuring aimed to better connect model research, delivery, and applications.
In May, Alibaba released Qwen3.7-Max, which it described as a next-generation large language model for agentic coding, complex reasoning, and long-horizon tasks.
The application programming interface-only model has a 1 million-token context window and achieved 35 hours of autonomous execution on an engineering task.
In June, Alibaba announced HappyHorse 1.1 and HappyOyster 1.0. Earlier in 2026, it also upgraded the Qwen app, introduced the Wukong enterprise platform, and said DAMO Academy launched screening tools for fatty liver disease and colorectal cancer.
New data centers in Japan, Malaysia, France, and Mexico expanded Alibaba Cloud to 105 availability zones across 32 regions. This expansion is driven the company’s US$53 billion global infrastructure plan.
