Ex-Ovo execs’ insurtech firm pivots to project management, lending

Aigis, an Indonesia-based B2B insurtech startup, has shifted its focus to provide project management and fintech solutions for the creative industry through a platform called Finnix. The decision was made after the company saw unsatisfactory growth in the insurtech industry.

“We believe our new offering will provide a much-needed solution and help creative entrepreneurs succeed,” said the firm’s CEO Reinhart Hermanus in a statement.

Finnix offers a dashboard where creative entrepreneurs can track projects, make payments, and manage their budget and cash flow. It also works with local P2P lending startup Cicil to provide loans to its clients.

After starting limited operations four months ago, 25 projects have already used the Finnix platform. These include event organizers, production houses, advertising agencies, and concert promoters.

Finnix was founded in 2021 by Hermanus, an ex-Ovo and Bareksa executive. He’s joined by Philip Moniaga, who previously worked as an engineer for Bloomberg and Carousell, and Sebastian Yaphy, who was a former product manager at Ovo and Alodokter.

In May last year, Aigis raised US$1 million from Y Combinator, Goodwater Capital, and Init 6 – a VC formed by Bukalapak’s founders.
