AI dominates Wall Street as firms push monetization, IPOs
Mentions of AI in Wall Street earnings calls hit a record high, with half of S&P 500 companies including AI in their presentations, up from 30% earlier in 2024.
However, AI adoption remains limited with only 6% of US companies actively use it, with another 10% planning to.
Adoption is strongest in technology, finance, and professional services, while sectors like transportation and construction lag behind.
Another sign of AI’s growing economic influence came on Mar. 5 when US startup CoreWeave filed for an IPO, a move that many see as a potential catalyst for the 2025 IPO market.
CoreWeave filed for an IPO after reporting a 730% revenue increase to US$1.9 billion in 2024, despite an US$863 million loss.
The IPO could encourage more tech firms to go public. Meanwhile, companies are pushing AI monetization. Monday.com introduced a pay-per-minute AI model, boosting its stock by 30%, while Fiverr and Kaltura launched AI tools but saw stock declines.
Investors are shifting focus from AI hype to measurable financial impact in 2025.
