A part of entrepreneurship is about contributing to society in a meaningful way — but these 30 entrepreneurs took time off from their busy schedules to do things a little differently — by organizing and performing in a charity concert.
The Meet the Entrepreneurs Charity Concert 2012, billed as the first of its kind in Singapore, took place on 16th January at the Serangoon Gardens Country Club.
Proceeds from the event, which was above S$100,000, will go to two organizations: Club Rainbow, a charity committed to providing comprehensive help to children who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses, and Dignity Kitchen, a hawker training school for people with disabilities.
The stated aims of the event was to promote awareness of social responsibility to local entrepreneurs and also to lend support and care to the benefiting organizations.
Tan Cheng Bock, a former Member-of-Parliament and Presidental candidate at the Presidential Election last year, was the special guest. He even graced the audience with an ukulele performance — his signature instrument.
A second mini concert will be held on 29th February, where the checks will be presented to the charities. Member-of-Parliament Tin Pei Ling will be the special guest.
