8 things that piss off AD carry players in League of Legends

If you play AD carry in League of Legends, you’re probably used to hearing other players complain. Why did their ADC outfarm you? Why didn’t you focus the right champion? Why didn’t you go all in? But the bot lane cannot be won solo, and your performance depends in large part on what your teammates do.

So what are AD carries’s pet peeves? What are the things their teammates do that drive them nuts? I asked the ADC mains on reddit’s Summoner School sub, and here’s what they told me.

1. Expecting me to tell you how to play

The bot lane is a two-way street, but many supports want to defer completely to the ADC in terms of playstyle. But they’re the ones who often have the CC in their kit to make plays. As an ADC, I’m the farmer and the damage dealer; I can’t also dictate how the support plays as I have to focus on those tasks and I probably don’t have the kit to initiate the way many supports do. One redditor put it particularly well:

As an ADC, I am the gun; you are the guy holding the gun. It’s your choice when to shoot.

2. Supports playing too passively, or too aggressively

This might seem like a bit of a contradiction with number one on this list, but the truth is that although supports shouldn’t defer to their ADCs for everything, they do need to recognize and adapt to the situation, based on both the ADC’s playstyle and the lane matchup. If I’m sitting back and farming, for example, the support should be applying some pressure to keep me safe, but not so much that it turns into an all-in fight, and not so little that they can easily poke me down as I farm.

In other words, supports, don’t just stand behind me doing nothing as I farm, and don’t go running deep into the lane turret-diving and trying to set up big plays when I’m not ready to go all-in with you. If you’re not sure, ask! There’s nothing worse than seeing your support land some CC and go all-in when your mana bar is completely empty and the support never bothered to check.

3. Stealing my farm

An ADC lives and dies by his or her farm, and there are actually several types of farm-stealing ADCs complained about:

Supports stealing farm in lane: Unless you’ve got a Targon’s or I’m nowhere nearby, supports should not be taking my CS. This isn’t greed, it’s just the reality of the game: you as a support have a kit that’ll help the team even if you don’t get expensive items. But without my items, I am nothing but a squishy piece of cannon fodder.
