Facebook revealed its Q3 earnings report overnight, showing that the social network has topped half a billion monthly active users (MAUs) in Asia for the first time. The figure now stands at 522 million. In another milestone, daily active users (DAUs) reached 300 million across Asia.
That’s from Facebook’s global total of 1.545 billion MAUs, or 1.007 billion DAUs.
33.8 percent of Facebook’s MAUs are now in Asia, up from 31.6 percent 12 months ago – and well up from 29.5 percent at the same point two years ago. That shows the boom in Asian users is pushing forward the company’s overall growth.

Facebook’s revenue and advertising figures from Asia-Pacific are also on the rise. While its revenue from Asia is still quite far behind that from the smaller user base in Europe, it’s catching up quickly. Facebook’s overall revenue from Asia has doubled from the start of 2014 to this newest report for Q3 2015. Advertising revenue from Asia has also doubled in the same time-frame.
