I’ve been here in Austin, Texas in the US for a few days now for the Interactive portion of South by Southwest (SXSW) and am really excited for the trade show to start tomorrow, where Singapore will have a pavilion with 10 of our startups. But tomorrow is also an important day for one of these startups, GoToCamera. We have a quick 5 Q&A with Varun Arora, founder and CEO of GoToCamera to find out more.

1. Is your start-up be launching a new product or service during SXSW? What will this product or service be.
No.
2. Will your start-up be releasing a new version or announcing a new feature? What will this release or feature be about?
Yes. We’ll announce our Mac Client – which finally makes it possible for millions of Mac users to put their redundant iMacs, MacBooks, etc, to use as home and small-business monitoring devices. In addition, we’ll be announcing our iPhone app, which enables folks who’ve upgraded to newer iPhone models to use their old “backup / standby” iPhones as wireless monitoring cameras.
3. What are the key dates for your start-up at SXSW?
As you’re probably aware, we’re the only Singaporean / SE Asian company to be selected to pitch at the Accelerate event during SXSW. So, for us, the critical date is March 14. If we make it through the initial round, then March 15 too.
4. What are the key activities your start-up will be involved in? For example, are you going to be throwing the best party ever?
No, but we’ll cheerfully toast the organizers.
5. What’s the focus of your start-up at SXSW?
Continue to create visibility for GotoCamera with prospective partners, and get roaring drunk in the process.
